According to the book "Records of the Grand Historian", Huangdi was the son of Shaodian. His surname was Gongsun and his name was Xuanyuan. He lived in Xuanyuan Hill. Legend has it that the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar was his birthday, so there has been a saying since ancient times that "On the second day of the second month, the dragon raises its head; on the third day of the third month, Xuanyuan is born." In order to commemorate the birthday of Huangdi, the first ancestor of human civilization, since ancient times, people would go outing on March 3rd, or have banquets with friends and relatives by the water. According to the records in books such as "Records of the Grand Historian", "Classic of Mountains and Seas" and "Book of Changes", the emperor's hometown is Xinzheng City, Zhengzhou, Henan. There are records of paying homage to Emperor Huang in the historical books of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. It is a delicious vegetable when fresh and tender. It tastes delicious and nutritious. There are folk proverbs such as "Wear shepherd's purse flowers in spring, and peach and plum flowers will be ashamed", "Wear mustard flowers, and you won't have headaches for a year", and "On March 3rd, mustard flowers are as beautiful as peonies". Women wearing mustard flowers are called "driving away sleepiness" in Wujin, Jiangsu, and "warding off epidemics" in Longshan, Hunan. In Yuxiang, Shanxi, women go to the suburbs to pick wild vegetables, which is called "cutting off the root of disease." In Pinghu, Zhejiang, locals believe that wearing mustard flowers can prevent dizziness in the summer; in Shangrao, Jiangxi, it is believed that doing so can prevent mosquito bites in summer and autumn. In Suzhou, Jiangsu, buckwheat flowers are called "eye-brightening flowers". Women wear the flowers on their hairline to pray for bright eyes and no eye diseases. 3. Eat wild vegetables to ward off evil spirits
In Guangshan area, people like to use poles as bait on this day, commonly known as "pole buns". They believe that after eating "pole buns", the human soul can go into the pole forest to avoid being caught by little ghosts. In the Huaiyang area, there is a habit of eating wild vegetable dumplings. On March 2nd, people go to the fields to dig five kinds of wild vegetables, and then come back to make them into dumpling fillings. On the morning of March 3rd, people make dumplings and eat them before the sun comes out. It is said that this will prevent them from being caught by evil spirits. In Xin County, there are people who eat pine branches to ward off evil spirits.
