What is the significance of New Year’s Day?

Yuan means "beginning" or "beginning" and Dan means "day". Yuandan means "the first day", which is the first day of the year.
"Yuan" means beginning and "Dan" means dawn. New Year's Day is the first day of the year, also known as the "new calendar year" or the "solar calendar year". New Year's Day is also known as "Sanyuan", namely the first day of the year, the first day of the month, and the first day of the hour. After the success of the Xinhai Revolution, Sun Yat-sen designated the first day of the first lunar month as the Spring Festival and January 1 of the Western calendar as the New Year in order to "follow the Xia calendar and the agricultural seasons according to the Western calendar." On September 27, 1949, the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference decided: "The People's Republic of China shall adopt the Gregorian calendar" and confirmed New Year's Day as a legal holiday in China. New Year's Day is also a legal holiday in many countries and regions in the world.
The word "New Year's Day" first appeared in "Book of Jin": "Emperor Zhuanxu took the first month of summer as the beginning, which was actually the New Year's Day of spring." According to legend, Chinese New Year's Day originated from Zhuanxu, one of the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, more than 5,000 years ago. Legend has it that the three wise emperors in ancient times - Yao, Shun and Yu - were close to the people and loved the people. They did many good things for the people and were loved by the people. Later generations regarded the day when Emperor Shun offered sacrifices to the heaven and earth and the former Emperor Yao after Yao's death as the beginning of the year, and called the first day of the first lunar month "New Year's Day", or "Yuan Zheng", which is the origin of the ancient New Year's Day.
Feudal dynasties throughout the ages held celebrations, ceremonies and prayer activities on New Year's Day, such as offering sacrifices to gods and ancestors, writing couplets and hanging spring festival couplets, writing the word "Fu", and dancing with dragon lanterns. The people also gradually formed entertainment and celebration activities such as worshiping ancestors, pasting spring festival couplets, setting off firecrackers, staying up all night, eating reunion dinners, and "community fire shows".
After the Revolution of 1911, the calendar was changed to “follow the Xia calendar to follow the farming season and follow the Western calendar to facilitate statistics”, with January 1 of the Western calendar (Gregorian calendar) as the “New Year”, which is what we call “New Year’s Day”.
Nowadays, New Year's Day customs have also quietly changed with the changes of the times. Whether watching the New Year's Eve party, going out for fun, or having a drink with friends and family, the ways Chinese people celebrate New Year's Day have become more diverse and rich.
