Different funeral styles

1. Cave burial: Jiading cave burial is located on the hillside of Limu Mountain in Jiading Village. There are two cave entrances, one above and the other below. The coffins are placed in the upper cave shaded by dense trees. The cave entrance is wide, more than ten meters high, more than ten meters wide, and about thirty to forty meters deep. One can visually see hundreds of coffins placed on a "well" shaped wooden frame, arranged in five rows, with the coffins either facing outwards or inwards, and there seems to be a rule for this.
2. Tree burial refers to burying the ashes deep under a designated big tree, or scattering the ashes on the soil. Tree burials do not have graves, and do not use special biodegradable urns. It is only used as a mark, such as: just put a stone under the tree, nail a copper plate on the stone, and write the name, birth and death date of the deceased. Tree burial is one of the most advanced funeral concepts and practices in the world today.
3. Hanging coffin burial is a type of ancient Chinese burial style. That is, after a person dies, relatives put the body into a coffin and hang the coffin on wooden stakes inserted into the cliff, or place it in a cliff cave or crack, or half-hang it outside the cliff. They are often steep and dangerous, with deep streams below, making it impossible to climb. This custom is popular among ethnic minority areas in the south. The higher the hanging is, the more respect is shown to the deceased.
4. Sand burial is most popular in the Xinjiang desert. The dead body was put into a sack and thrown into the quicksand, where it slowly sank into the sand. Due to the climate, many corpses dehydrate immediately when they enter the sand, which prevents them from rotting and allows them to be preserved naturally for hundreds or even thousands of years.
5. Wind burial is also called "open-air burial". It includes tree burial, cliff burial, cave burial, hanging coffin burial, etc. Generally, the body of the deceased is exposed among trees or in the wilderness, or placed under rocks, between cliffs, in caves or tree holes; some put the body in a coffin, which is then placed in a coffin shed or a small hut made of thatch and wooden boards. Some ethnic groups practice wind burial for the totems they worship.
6. Diamond burial Diamond burial is a derivative of cremation, which involves extracting the carbon from the ashes after cremation to create artificial diamonds.
