The Origin of Christmas Eve

Every year on Christmas Eve, which is the period from the evening of December 24 to the morning of December 25, is what we often call Christmas Eve. The church organizes some choirs (or believers spontaneously form groups) to sing Christmas carols door to door or under windows to recreate the scene when the angels reported the good news of Jesus' birth to the shepherds outside Bethlehem. This is the "Annunciation of the Good News". On this night you will always see a group of cute little boys or girls forming a good news team, holding hymns and playing guitar, walking on the cool snow, singing hymns from house to house.
Legend has it that on the night Jesus was born, shepherds who were watching their sheep in the wilderness suddenly heard a voice from heaven telling them the news of Jesus' birth. According to the Bible, because Jesus came to be the king in the hearts of the people, the angels spread the message through these shepherds to let more people know.
Later, in order to spread the news of Jesus' birth to everyone, people imitated the angels and went around telling people the news of Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve. To this day, caroling has become an indispensable part of Christmas.
Usually the caroling team consists of about twenty young people, plus a little girl dressed as an angel and a Santa Claus, and they start to go from house to house to spread the good news after about nine o'clock on Christmas Eve. Whenever the caroling team goes to a family, they will first sing a few familiar Christmas songs, and then a little girl will read the words of the Bible to let the family know that tonight is the day Jesus was born. Afterwards, everyone will pray together and sing one or two songs. Finally, the generous Santa Claus will distribute Christmas gifts to the children of the family, and the whole process of caroling is completed!
The people who spread the good news are called Christmas Waits. The whole process of spreading the good news often lasts until dawn. The number of people increases, the singing becomes louder and louder, and the streets and alleys are full of singing.
