The farmers themselves are also rewarded with drinking and rest. Some of the customs of the Beginning of Winter have been changed, while others are still used today. The day of fortune-telling in Xiapu is called "Asking the Seedlings". On this day, farmers go to the Sheren Gongtianzu of Longshou Mountain to predict the coming year's harvest. A harvest party is held and some villages perform plays to thank the gods and celebrate the harvest. Killing chickens and sheep or taking other nutritious foods on the day of "Lidong" is called "Winter Tonifying".
