In contemporary times, it has even developed the cultural meaning of "Chinese Valentine's Day". The Chinese Valentine's Day originated in China and is the earliest love festival in the world. Among the many folk customs of the Chinese Valentine's Day, some have gradually disappeared, but quite a few have been continued by people. On May 20, 2006, the Chinese Valentine's Day was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

01. New Year, 1 day off (January 1);
02. Spring Festival: 3 days off (the first, second and third day of the first lunar month);
03. Qingming Festival: 1 day off (on the day of Qingming Festival in the lunar calendar);
04. Labor Day, 1 day off (May 1);
05. Dragon Boat Festival: 1 day off (on the Dragon Boat Festival in the lunar calendar);
06. Mid-Autumn Festival: 1 day off (on the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival in the lunar calendar);
07. National Day, 3-day holiday (October 1st, 2nd, 3rd).
08. Women’s Day (March 8), women have half a day off;
09. Youth Day (May 4), young people over 14 years old have a half-day holiday;
10. Children's Day (June 1st): Children under the age of 14 will have a day off.
11. On the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (August 1), active-duty military personnel will have a half-day holiday.
12. For festivals celebrated by ethnic minorities, the local people's governments of the areas where ethnic minorities live shall determine the dates of holidays in accordance with the customs of the ethnic groups.
