What is the Chinese Valentine's Day?

The Chinese Valentine's Day, also known as the Qiqiao Festival, the Qiqiao Festival or the Seventh Sisters' Birthday, originated in China. It is a traditional festival in the Chinese-speaking regions and East Asian countries. The festival comes from the legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl and is celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar (Japan changed it to July 7 in the Gregorian calendar after the Meiji Restoration).
People call this day the "Qiqiao Festival", "Girls' Day" or "Daughters' Day".
On May 20, 2006, Qixi Festival was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list by the State Council of China.
The Chinese Valentine's Day is based on the folklore of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. It expresses the love between married men and women, and adheres to the commitment of both parties to love. Over time, the Chinese Valentine's Day has become China's Valentine's Day.

What are the taboos in sacrifice?

(1) Women and outsiders are not allowed to participate in the sacrifice
Many ethnic groups, such as the Yi, Miao, Nu, Dai, Wa, Hani, Lisu, and Oroqen, have the custom of prohibiting women from participating in sacrifices and prohibiting outsiders from entering sacrificial sites.
(2) Avoid having unclean people participate in offering sacrifices to the gods
The Han ethnic group forbids unclean people to participate in sacrifices, that is, menstruating women, pregnant women, postpartum women, infants, people wearing mourning clothes, and people who have been punished.
(3) Avoid inviting a person of high moral character to preside over the ceremony.
When performing sacrifices, one must choose a person who is over fifty years old and of high moral character to preside over the ceremony. Otherwise, the presiding priest will die immediately due to his young age and will not be able to enjoy such an honor.
(4) Avoid offending the gods with words or actions during sacrifices
During the sacrifice, people are not allowed to talk or cough casually, and cannot behave in an indecent manner. During the sacrificial period, men and women are not allowed to meet alone, have sexual intercourse, eat meat, etc.
(5) Avoid offering sacrifices to gods with gender characteristics regardless of gender
For example, there is a saying among the people that "men do not worship the moon, and women do not worship the kitchen god". This is because the moon god is a goddess and the kitchen god is a male god, so people are afraid that worshipping the opposite sex would blaspheme the gods.
