When is the summer solstice in 2019? Why is it not the hottest?
Introduction: The arrival of the summer solstice heralds a change in the weather, but the specific start time of the summer solstice is not the same every year. So what is the month, date, time and minute of the summer solstice in 2019? Why is the summer solstice not the hottest? Chinese people believe that the fifth month of the lunar calendar is a poisonous month, and the Dragon Boat Festival is the first of the nine poisonous days. What is the date and time of the summer solstice in 2019?

2019-06-21 23:53:45 Friday (May 19th of the Year of the Pig, 24 days until the 2019 Summer Solstice)
The summer solstice is one of the 24 solar terms. It occurs when the sun reaches 90° of the ecliptic longitude, which usually falls on June 21-22 of the Gregorian calendar.
On the summer solstice, the sun's direct position above the ground reaches its northernmost point of the year, almost directly above the Tropic of Cancer. At this time, the daylight hours in all parts of the Northern Hemisphere are the longest of the year.
For areas on and north of the Tropic of Cancer, the summer solstice is also the day when the sun is highest at noon in the year.
On this day, the Northern Hemisphere receives the most solar radiation, nearly twice as much as the Southern Hemisphere.

Why isn't the summer solstice the hottest?

The main reason is the effect of the atmosphere. The atmosphere has a strong thermal insulation effect.
If there is no atmosphere, after the summer solstice, the daylight hours in the Northern Hemisphere will shorten day by day, the heat received will become less and less, and the heat lost will become more and more, and the temperature will drop day by day.

The heat we usually feel is not actually caused by the sun, but is reflected from the ground to the atmosphere because the earth is wrapped in a dense atmosphere.
Near the ground is our direct heat source. Although the ground absorbs a lot of heat during the summer solstice, it takes about a month for it to be completely released.
On the summer solstice, the Northern Hemisphere does receive the most heat from the sun, but in the dozens of days after the summer solstice, although the sun's position is not the highest, it is still quite high; the daylight is not the longest, but it is still quite long.
The amount of heat received each day exceeds the amount of heat lost, so the average daily temperature continues to rise, reaching its highest point during the dog days of summer.
The earth is wrapped in a dense atmosphere. Sunlight directly penetrates the atmosphere to heat the ground. The ground then transfers heat to the air through infrared radiation, air convection and water evaporation.
As for the heat from the sun, it is possible for it to enter the atmosphere unimpeded, but it is very slow and difficult for it to exit, which is a bit like "easy in, difficult out", thus creating a thermal insulation effect.
This prevents the surface temperature from being too high, and at night, this heat prevents the surface temperature from being too low.
The average daily temperature then depends not so much on how much heat we get from the sun as on the daily difference between how much heat we get and how much we lose.
