Will it still be hot after White Dew in 2022? Will the weather turn cooler?

Bailu is the first solar term in September of the Gregorian calendar. Dew is water droplets formed by condensation of water vapor on the ground or near-earth objects due to a drop in temperature. Therefore, Bailu actually indicates that the weather has turned cooler.
After the White Dew solar term, cold air becomes increasingly active, and low temperatures often occur, affecting the heading and flowering of late rice. The Huanghuai, Jianghuai and South China regions should seize the favorable opportunity of higher temperatures to irrigate frequently with shallow water. During the White Dew period, the sunshine in South China decreases sharply compared to the End of Heat period, and the rainfall is mostly characterized by low intensity, many rainy days, and often continuous rainfall, so there is a saying in the agricultural proverb that "the weather is clear during the White Dew period, and the rice is as white as silver." In this regard, corresponding agricultural technical measures should be taken to reduce or avoid the harm caused by autumn rain, while paying attention to the prevention and control of diseases such as rice blast and sclerotinia.

Phenology of Bailu

The White Dew has three phases: the first is the arrival of wild geese, the second is the return of black birds, and the third is the flocks of birds storing food.
This means that after this solar term, migratory birds such as wild geese and swallows begin to fly south to avoid the cold, and birds begin to store dried fruits and food in preparation for the winter. Bailu is the solar term in the eighth month of the lunar calendar, representing the beginning of August. From August onwards, the yin energy begins to prevail over the yang energy, representing that the yin nights will be longer than the days after the autumnal equinox in the middle of August, and the yin cold air will replace the yang summer heat at this time. In summer, Yang energy dominates the heaven and earth, and its upward force evaporates water to form moisture and thunderstorms. The air is turbid and the weather is changeable. Starting from White Dew, the upward force of Yang energy is no match for the downward force of Yin energy. Yin suppresses Yang, and moisture encounters cold and adheres to the ground, grass, or metal, condensing into crystal white dewdrops. Without strong evaporation, the sky becomes high and transparent. The clear and crisp autumn is exactly what describes this season.
