How did Arbor Day come about?

The earliest Arbor Day in modern times was initiated in the United States. Before the 19th century, Nebraska was a barren plain with few trees and yellow sand everywhere, and the people suffered greatly. In 1872, Julius Sterling Moulton, a famous American agronomist, proposed to establish Arbor Day in Nebraska to mobilize people to plant trees in a planned manner. At that time, the state agricultural bureau passed a resolution to adopt this proposal, and the governor personally designated the third Wednesday of April every year as Arbor Day. In the following 16 years, another 600 million trees were planted, finally turning 100,000 hectares of wilderness in Nebraska into dense forest. In order to recognize Morton's achievements, the state legislature officially designated April 22, Mr. Morton's birthday, as Arbor Day every year in 1885, and gave one day off. After discussion, the world's first Arbor Day stamp was issued in 1932, showing two children planting trees. China's Arbor Day was initiated by foresters such as Ling Daoyang, Han An and Pei Yili in 1915, and the date was originally set as Qingming Festival every year. In 1928, the National Government changed the Arbor Day to March 12 to commemorate the third anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's death. In 1979, after the founding of New China, at the suggestion of Deng, the Sixth Session of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's Congress decided that March 12 of each year would be my country's Arbor Day.
