How to burn winter clothes on Cold Clothes Festival?

1. Prepare offerings in advance. Generally, it will be prepared in the morning. After the offerings were prepared, the family sent the children to the street to buy some colored paper, paper money, and incense foil for later use. The five-color paper comes in five colors: red, yellow, blue, white and black. It is thin and some even have cotton in the middle. After lunch, clean the stove and gather the family together, then you can go to the grave to burn winter clothes.
2. When people arrive at the tomb, they burn incense and light candles, place dumplings and other offerings neatly, and the family members take turns kneeling and kowtowing; then they draw a circle on the tomb, put colored paper, paper money, winter clothes, etc. in the circle, and set it on fire.
3. Some families, when drawing a circle on the grave, remember to add another circle next to it. The purpose is to help those wandering ghosts who have no one to worship them, so that they don't become evil and steal the clothes of their ancestors.
4. In some places, when burning paper money, you have to spread it out and put 100 yuan of real money on it, from right to left and from top to bottom, filling the entire piece of paper.
5. When burning paper money, you should first draw a circle on the ground. Don’t circle yourself in it. Leave a hole in the northwest corner for your deceased relatives to take the money.
6. When burning paper money, say "XXX is sending money to you". This way, your deceased relatives will know who you are and can bless you.
7. When burning paper money, it is best to prepare a stick so that you can pull out the paper money that is pressed underneath and cannot be burned. Be careful not to take the stick home after use.
8. It must be burned during the Cold Clothes Festival or in advance. If the cremation is done after the first day of October, the deceased will not be able to put on his sleeves or pull up his trousers. After being born, he will wipe his nose with his sleeves when getting dressed and kick his pants when wearing them. This behavior will accompany him throughout his life.
9. All clothes and paper money sent to the deceased must be burned. Only when they are burned thoroughly can these papers from the world of the living be transformed into silk, cloth, houses, clothes, quilts, gold, silver and copper coins in the underworld. As long as there is even a little bit that is not burned out, all previous efforts will be wasted and the deceased cannot use it. Therefore, when burning winter clothes on October 1st, you must be particularly careful and meticulous.
