Notes on burning incenseThere are many Bodhisattvas in the temple. If you wish, you can worship them one by one. If time does not permit, just burn them in front of the main hall. The steps are as follows:01. You have to buy your own incense and not let others pay for it. 02. It is best to light the incense with your own fire (three sticks are enough, no need to burn them in large quantities), face the main door of the hall; lightly hold three green incense sticks in both hands (left hand on top, right hand on bottom for men, vice versa for women), suddenly lift them upwards, the burning fire will go out immediately, and you must not blow it out with your mouth. 03. When burning incense, burn incense first and then worship. Three incense sticks are enough. Worship them in one furnace, "one furnace for ten thousand Buddhas". Then when passing by each Buddhist hall, put your hands together and worship three times. 04. Hold the incense stick to the level of your forehead, close your eyes, make a wish, and then bow three times. (The height of the incense stick must not be lower than the lower body) 05. Turn right and face east (usually the door of the main hall faces south), make a wish according to step 3, bow three times and then face south and north. After the worship, you can put the incense into the incense burner. Note: you should use your left hand to light the incense, because the right hand kills, and the left hand is relatively peaceful. Do not just throw it into the incense burner. 06. Reminder: Female friends should never burn incense during their menstrual period, remember this. 07. Burning incense in a temple means lighting up your own heart incense, and lighting a lamp means lighting up your own heart lamp. At this time, you can receive the blessings of Buddha and Bodhisattva, and gain wisdom and so on. So you can burn one incense stick, two incense sticks, or at most three incense sticks. Three incense sticks, one for worshiping Buddha, one for worshiping Dharma, and one for worshiping monks; the middle mat in the temple is for monks to worship Buddha, business men use the left one when kneeling, and women use the right one. 09. Be pious in your heart and keep your hands clean. Do not make loud noises or say irrelevant "nagging" in the temple, and do not point at the Buddha statues with your fingers. Don't make random wishes, because wishes must be fulfilled; if you are not sure you can do it, don't make a wish. Don't make casual promises to offer something to the Buddha and then forget about it. It is said that a man should keep his word. 10. Walk in a clockwise direction in the temple to worship Buddha. Do not step over the cushion, as it will give people a sense of disrespect. Do not walk in front of someone who is worshiping. 11. A wish must be fulfilled. If you do not make a wish but just pray, there is no need to do so. |
