One year, when Huang Chao's army marched to the city of Dengzhou in Henan Province, Huang Chao was surveying the terrain outside and saw a woman holding a small child by the hand and a larger child in her arms. Huang Chao was puzzled and asked the woman where she was going with the two children. The woman said that she was going to escape. Huang Chao asked again why she was holding the older child in her arms but holding the younger one by the hand. The woman said that the older child was the only bloodline of her uncle's family, and the younger child was her own son.
