Can we say "Happy Holidays" on the Dragon Boat Festival on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month?

The Dragon Boat Festival is a festival for sacrificing ancestors. Legend has it that on this day Wu Zixu committed suicide, Cao E jumped into the Cao'e River to save her father, and the great writer Qu Yuan jumped into the Miluo River. In short, the fifth day of May is a tragic day, a day for later generations to worship their ancestors. We don’t wish each other happiness on all festivals. For example, on festivals like Qingming Festival and Dragon Boat Festival, we can only wish each other “good health”.
Some people have suggested that it is not appropriate to say "Happy Holidays" on the Dragon Boat Festival. The most direct reason is that the Dragon Boat Festival is a day of sacrifice and tragedy. Judging from the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, it is more or less associated with words like commemoration and sadness. Therefore, saying "Happy Holidays" to each other like on other festivals is undoubtedly inappropriate. Judging from the general public's understanding of the Dragon Boat Festival, this statement seems to make sense. For example, everyone now knows that an important part of the Dragon Boat Festival is to commemorate Qu Yuan, the great poet of the Spring and Autumn Period. Now people eat rice dumplings and row dragon boats, which are all related to Qu Yuan.
But the true origin of the Dragon Boat Festival may not be necessarily related to the three historical figures mentioned above. As a festival, the Dragon Boat Festival is the time when the weather turns from cold to hot. During this period, people are prone to get sick due to weather reasons. So the Dragon Boat Festival was originally born from people using activities such as hanging calamus, mugwort, and drinking realgar wine to dispel evil spirits and avoid getting sick. Therefore, the Dragon Boat Festival is a festival created by people to pray for a happy life. There is nothing wrong with saying "happy" on the Dragon Boat Festival.

What legends are there about the Dragon Boat Festival?

Commemorating Qu Yuan
Legend has it that in 278 BC, the Qin army conquered the capital of Chu. Seeing his homeland being invaded, Qu Yuan wrote his last work Huaisha on May 5th, then threw himself into the Miluo River with a stone and died. Legend has it that after Qu Yuan's death, the people of Chu State were extremely sad and flocked to the Miluo River to pay tribute to Qu Yuan. From then on, on the fifth day of May every year, there was a custom of dragon boat racing, eating rice dumplings and drinking realgar wine to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan.
Commemorating the filial daughter Cao E
Cao E was a native of Shangyu in the Eastern Han Dynasty. Her father drowned in the river and his body was missing for several days. At that time, the filial daughter Cao E was only 14 years old. Seventeen days later, on May 5th, he also jumped into the river and carried out his father's body five days later. To commemorate Cao E's filial piety, later generations built the Cao E Temple at the place where Cao E jumped into the river. The village where she lived was renamed Cao E Town, and the place where Cao E died for her father was named Cao E River.
Commemorating Wu Zixu
The second legend of the Dragon Boat Festival is widely spread in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas. Wu Zixu was framed and sentenced to death. Wu Zixu was ready to die, and before his death he said to his neighbors, "After I die, dig out my eyes and hang them on the east gate of Wujing, so that I can watch the Yue army enter the city and destroy Wu." Then he committed suicide. King Fuchai was furious when he heard this, and ordered Zixu's body to be wrapped in leather and thrown into the river on May 5th. Therefore, it is said that the Dragon Boat Festival is also a day to commemorate Wu Zixu.
