In order to deal with the five poisonous creatures, people give fans to children on the Dragon Boat Festival, require them to wear five-poison bellybands, wear sachets, catch toads, post Dragon Boat Festival talismans, bathe in orchid soup, and so on. Married women in Tianjin have to take their children to the riverside to "hide from the noon" and throw the evil-avoiding items they are wearing, such as cloth dolls and cloth dogs, into the water, and take the small cloth doll to replace the one that suffers the disaster, commonly known as the "dog bites the disaster star".
First, wear an evil-repelling plant. At first, people planted calamus and mugwort. In some places, people even specially make five-poison clothes and five-poison vests for children to wear for protection. In addition, people also post Yong'an talismans and hold Zhong Kui competitions. There are also many folk paper-cuts about preventing the five poisonous creatures, such as the gourd that brings down disasters, the gourd with mugwort, tiger, calamus and sword, and the tiger that suppresses the five poisonous creatures.
Third, the customs of visiting the Temple of Heaven. This is mainly popular in the old Beijing area. In addition, a pomegranate flower show is also held.
