Orientation: The main function of a compass is to accurately measure the precise direction of a house. The process of measuring the direction of a house is called orientation. To accurately determine the orientation of your house, you need to stand outside the door, three steps away from the door (seven footprints), and measure it facing the door.
One point worth noting is that the compass should be placed in front of the chest, with the edge of the compass parallel to the front door, so that the direction of the house can be accurately found. When using a compass, be sure to keep it level and remove any metal objects around it to avoid affecting the correct direction of the magnetic needle.
To determine the center line is to measure and determine the direction of the building and the door direction. The compass is placed in the center of the building, and the ten lines of the center should be parallel to the walls of the building. In this way, when the sky plate is rotated, the orientation of the building can be known through the ten paths of the sky. The mountain on the side of the compass meridian that is close to the house is the sitting side, and the mountain on the side close to the people is the direction. The 24 mountain directions are composed of 12 Earthly Branches, 8 Heavenly Stems, and four-dimensional hexagrams. The correct position of the 24 mountains on the site is used to determine the orientation of the house.
There are three mountains in the Kan direction: Ren, Zi and Gui; there are three mountains in the Gen direction: Chou, Gen and Yin; there are three mountains in the Zhen direction: Jia, Mao and Yi; there are three mountains in the Xun direction: Chen, Xun and Si; there are three mountains in the Li direction: Bing, Wu and Ding; there are three mountains in the Kun direction: Wei, Kun and Shen; there are three mountains in the Dui direction: Geng, You and Xin; there are three mountains in the Gan direction: Xu, Gan and Hai. If you sit on Zi Mountain and face south, use Bing Zi division of gold, which means sitting on Zi and facing Ren. The general direction is south, and there should be some east.
