2. Rural bungalows and courtyard houses. The gate that the compass is pointed to is the main gate of the compound.
3. When orienting a large factory area with multiple office buildings, the orientation should be based on the building where the factory's headquarters is located, rather than the factory gate. If the factory is just a processing workshop and no neighbors work there, the orientation should be based on the factory gate.
4. Multi-story irregular buildings. For example, there are many L-shaped, U-shaped, and even rooms that look like an open book. 3. When orienteering, your body posture must be relaxed. Hold the compass with both hands and place it around your waist. Your body posture should be such that your chest is tucked in and your back is straightened. First, visually check whether the edge of the compass is parallel to one side of the house being measured (the wall facing the measurement). Once it feels parallel, check whether the level of the compass is tilted up and down. If it is tilted, adjust the level to a horizontal position (with the mercury in the center of the level). The author believes that the method of Xuan Kong Feng Shui orientation should be based on the building door. There are several methods of setting the orientation mentioned in Shen's Xuan Kong School, but based on the author's personal experience, I think the most important and accurate method is to set the orientation based on the building and gate.
There are several popular methods of orientation at present.
1. Orientation based on the sun (orientation based on the sun house that receives the most sunlight and other factors)
2. Set the direction based on the door where the road is.
3. The direction of the main gate. (For example, if it is a unit building, the orientation is based on the main building door).
4. Set the direction based on the door of your private residence. (For example, a unit building is oriented towards each private house)
The most controversial issue is which method is the most accurate in determining the door orientation of a private room or the main building when several families live together in the same house. Mr. Zhong Yimin, a famous Taiwanese numerology master, mainly uses the former method of private door orientation, while some Feng Shui masters in Hong Kong and Taiwan also use the method of main door orientation. Therefore, there is a lot of controversy about the two orientation methods.
After a lot of practice and verification, the author feels that the accuracy of orientation based on building doors is higher than that based on private doors. Therefore, the author would like to express his point of view here that the Xuan Kong Feng Shui orientation should be based on the orientation of the building and the door. If it is not a separate house with separate rooms, the orientation should be based on the door. However, if there are several doors in a connected building, the orientation must be based on the center line of the building.
Everyone knows that the orientation of a grave is determined by the direction of the tombstone. The side of the tombstone with words on it is the direction, and the side without words on it is the sitting direction. This principle can also be applied to the orientation method of a house. Because when people go to visit graves, their bodies are always facing the side of the tombstone with words on it, and when people enter a yang house, they also have to walk a distance facing the house number before entering the room. Even if it is an apartment building, they have to pass through the main building door (house number) first and then go to their private homes. Therefore, the gate of a yang house with a house number is equivalent to a tombstone with words on it in a yin house. And each private residence is only a part of the main unit building. Therefore, the orientation cannot be determined by the door of the private residence, otherwise it will be "losing the big for the small". Therefore, the orientation of the rooms in a yang house must be based on the main door.
As for the method of determining the direction based on which side the road is, I do not agree with it, because doing so will only result in all houses facing the road. Looking through all the Xuan Kong Yang Zhai cases in ancient books, it seems that most of the cases do not have the situation where the house faces water. This shows that this method was not adopted by the ancients.
Moreover, from the perspective of the structure, if the side with the road is taken as the direction, then the direction star plate and the actual shape and terrain will only have two situations: direction star to water and mountain star down to water, but there will be no situation of mountain star to mountain and water star up to mountain. So whether the method of using the road for orientation is true or false, readers will be able to distinguish right from wrong after reading the above theory.
The specific orientation method is to stand outside the house, facing the main door of the house, aim the compass at the door, and rotate the compass so that the magnetic needle overlaps with the bottom line of the red line in the Tianchi. At this time, the two ends of the longitude line in the compass that is perpendicular to the door wall of the building are the sitting and facing.
