People in the south call it tangyuan, while people in the north call it yuanxiao. Do you know what are the etiquettes for eating Tangyuan? There are some taboos when eating Tangyuan. Please follow the editor to learn about the specific contents! The first month of the lunar calendar is about to begin with various festivals. Let us count the important traditional festivals and customs of this month. A good year starts with spring.

Four points to pay attention to when cooking Yuanxiao

1. Put the Yuanxiao into the pot after the water boils, gently push it open with a spoon, and let it rotate for a few weeks so that it does not stick to the pot wall. 2. Cook over low heat until the Yuanxiao floats up, then quickly switch to low heat. Otherwise, the Yuanxiao will keep rolling around, becoming cooked on the outside but hard on the inside and not tasty. 3. Add some cold water. During the cooking process, add a small amount of cold water each time the pot is opened to keep the Yuanxiao in the pot in a state of almost boiling. After the water boils two or three times, cook for a while and then you can eat it. The Yuanxiao cooked in this way is soft and not hard, sweet, sticky and delicious. 4. Cook in time. The glutinous rice flour of raw Yuanxiao contains more water. It will deteriorate if left for a long time and will break easily if frozen. It is best to make and eat Yuanxiao immediately, and do not leave it out for more than 3 days. Once the color of the Yuanxiao changes, it cannot be eaten. Freshly bought frozen Yuanxiao should be eaten promptly and it is best not to store it for more than a week. In addition, when tasting Yuanxiao, whether boiled or fried, make sure it is cooked thoroughly. When frying Yuanxiao, it is best to poke some small holes on it to prevent it from bursting and causing burns.

Who can't eat Yuanxiao?

Patients with high fever: When they have a fever, the gastrointestinal tract of the patient is in a relatively inhibited state, so they should eat liquid food or other easily digestible food, otherwise the condition will be aggravated. For diabetic patients, the sugar content of glutinous rice balls is high. If patients indulge in them, their blood sugar may rise sharply, which will not only aggravate the condition but also induce ketoacidosis. The elderly and infirm have weakened gastrointestinal function, reduced secretion of digestive enzymes and digestive juices, slower gastrointestinal motility, and longer emptying time, making it difficult for them to digest and absorb sticky foods such as glutinous rice balls. Swallowing the Yuanxiao quickly may cause it to get stuck in the throat, leading to breathing difficulties or even suffocation and death. People with gastrointestinal dysfunction: Glutinous rice balls are made of glutinous rice flour, which is very sticky and difficult to digest. Eating them may cause stomach pain, bloating, belching, acid reflux and even diarrhea. Patients with hypertension, hyperlipidemia and gout: Both sweet and salty glutinous rice balls contain a lot of fat. Sweet-filled glutinous rice balls contain a lot of sugar and calories. Eating them in large quantities will cause blood sugar to get out of control, increase blood lipids, and increase blood viscosity. For those who have just recovered from a long illness: Although the patient's appetite has improved, the digestive function is still weak, and eating too much glutinous rice balls is not conducive to recovery. Infants and young children have weak digestive functions and their swallowing reflex is not yet fully developed, so they cannot eat the glutinous rice balls as a whole. They should divide them into 1/4 and eat one bite before taking the second bite. Be sure to chew slowly to prevent accidents. For patients with ulcers, eating rice dumplings can increase gastric acid secretion, aggravate the irritation to the ulcer surface, and in severe cases can induce gastric bleeding, gastric perforation, etc. Patients with acute gastroenteritis: The gastrointestinal tract of the patient is in a state of congestion and edema. The patient should eat easily digestible foods such as rice soup and lotus root powder. Eating glutinous rice balls will increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract.
