The tradition of sending lanterns on the Lantern Festival by people in Changxing, Henan originated from the unique custom of Guangshan County. In the early years of the People's Republic of China, immigrants from Guangshan County, Luoshan County and other Central Plains counties in Henan entered Changxing. To date, there are nearly 200,000 of their descendants, most of whom live in plains. For hundreds of years, they still maintain the traditional customs of their ancestral hometowns, and their accent has not changed. To date, although they come from different regions of the Central Plains, their accents have become similar. The general customs of the Lantern Festival are admiring lanterns, guessing lantern riddles, eating rice dumplings and lion dancing. Even among people in Henan, it is rare to see the custom of lighting lanterns in front of ancestral graves. Therefore, what the people of Changxing say about this being the custom of Henan people is actually a fallacy. In some areas of Shangcheng, Guangshan and Xinxian in Xinyang, Henan, there is a custom of sending lanterns.
