Xinjiang Yili Bagua City——Tekesi

The first Feng Shui city is Bagua City in Xinjiang. There is a city built according to the Eight Diagrams in the upper reaches of the Ili River, called Tekesi, also known as the Eight Diagrams City. It is centered on the city park and radiates to the surrounding areas. Bagua City was founded in 1230 AD (Southern Song Dynasty) by Qiu Chuji, the leader of the Longmen Sect of Taoism, at the invitation of the Mongol Khan Genghis Khan. 700 years later, in 1992, a descendant of Qiu Chuji, also a Feng Shui master, rebuilt the city into its current appearance, which is an important historical symbol for the study of urban Feng Shui in China.

Three sides of the lake embrace the city - Kunming

The second Feng Shui city is Kunming. The city is surrounded by lakes on three sides and surrounded by mountains on four sides. A poem from the Qianlong period goes, "The 500-li Dianchi Lake rushes to the bottom, I press it with a towel, I am delighted by the boundless air space, it winds in a winding path to the north and goes down rapidly to the south, if a master encounters a favorable situation, why not choose a good spot to climb the fence." This is a poem written by a Taoist priest in the Qing Dynasty, which says that of the several sides of Kunming, the east side is like a divine horse, like a galloping horse. In the west, it's like a big bird waving its hands nimbly. The north side winds and curves like a long snake.

Mountains are like the Big Dipper, and the city is like a lock - Wenzhou

The third Feng Shui city is Wenzhou, where the mountains are like the Big Dipper and the city is like a lock. Wenzhou was the first city in China to be designed by Guo Pu, who wrote a burial book. During the Jin Dynasty, Liu Nan came to Wenzhou and was invited by the local people of Wenzhou to build a provincial capital. According to the geographical features of Wenzhou, the provincial capital generally faces north and south, and sunlight can shine in from the south. Wenzhou has the Oujiang River and the Nanxi River. When he was building the city, he not only took Feng Shui into consideration, but also the actual geological conditions. Because the soil on the north bank of Wenzhou is relatively loose and the foundation is unstable due to the erosion of sand and rocks, the entire city was built on the south. Wenzhou is actually a city sitting south and facing north, but he designed Wenzhou City based on all the mountains and shapes around Wenzhou, and the surrounding mountains and shapes happen to be in the shape of the Big Dipper. In order to commemorate him, Wenzhou City built a Xigong Mountain, which was later changed to Guogong Mountain. There is still a Guo Pu sculpture in Wenzhou City. Not only did he build this city, he also created 64 springs, 5 ponds, and 5 colors of water to adjust the city structure. Wenzhou is relatively closed and built around mountains. It is said that this not only brings good feng shui, but also helps avoid war. Indeed, two major catastrophes occurred. The first was the Fang Lang Uprising, which failed to capture Wenzhou after 46 days of siege and eventually led to the withdrawal of troops. During the Anti-Japanese War, Wenzhou served as a bridgehead and base area, saving the city from Japanese invasion and attacks. Wenzhou avoided war. Today, not many of the 64 springs remain, but 5 pools are still there.

Three water inlets lock the Yangtze River - Hengyang

There is a very famous building in Hengyang, which is the first of the four major academies in China - Shigu Academy, located in Shigu Jiangshan, one of the eight scenic spots in Hengzhou: "Shigu Jiangshan Jinxiuhua". Shigujiangshan is in the shape of a peninsula, a bit like Wenzhou, and also a bit like the Battle Bridge in Qingdao, which is on the sea. A tower was built opposite Shigujiangshan, named Laiyan Tower. In fact, there is a process for surveying and selecting land in ancient Feng Shui. The first is to find the dragon, the second is to point the acupoints, the third is to check the sand, the fourth is to ask about the water, and the fifth is to cut the appearance. It is divided into five directions, that is to say, if you find the dragon vein based on the entire city, you must lock it after finding the hole, which is to lock the lifeline of the city. That is to say, some pagodas, buildings or other special things will be built at the location of the water mouth to lock it. Hengyang is very special. Its three pagodas (Laiyan Pagoda, Zhuhui Pagoda and Jielong Pagoda) respectively lock the three river eyes of Hengyang, making it one of the most famous Feng Shui cities in China.

Shenzhen, a Feng Shui treasure land in Lingnan

The fifth Feng Shui city is Shenzhen. Shenzhen has good feng shui and geography, and is adjacent to Hong Kong. In the past 30 years, it has risen from a small fishing village to a place of wealth. In 2024, Shenzhen will usher in greater development opportunities. As the earth rotates, Macau has been filled up, so Macau has no deep-water port. Shenzhen Yantian Port and Hong Kong Victoria Harbour are both deep-water ports with special geographical locations. Their economic strength and urban construction can support them to go further. Geographically speaking, Macau is just for entertainment, while Shenzhen is a place where tourism, entertainment and industry are developed simultaneously. Shenzhen is located in the south-central part of Guangdong, at the mouth of the Pearl River. It is bordered by Dapeng Bay to the east, the Pearl River to the west, and Hong Kong to the south by a river. There is Wutong Mountain in the north. The dragon comes from the northeast, while Shekou and Shuikou in the southwest are connected to Lantau Island. In addition, the bays within the circle overlap and the islands are in line, just like a spirit turtle descending to the earth. It is beautiful beyond words and has good feng shui.

Feng Shui City in North China——Beijing

The sixth Feng Shui city is Beijing. Beijing is a very symmetrical urban building complex built with the Forbidden City as its center. It lasted for hundreds of years through the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. During the Chongzhen period of the Ming Dynasty, the "Learn from the Geographical Scenery" published in 1635 recorded that the west of Huangcheng had deep tombs and in autumn and winter it looked like a row of ancient tombs. In the past, Beijing was surrounded by dense pine forests, and the roads were only wide enough for one person to ride a horse. The dense forests brought abundant water sources. Diaoyutai and the Goldfish Pond had springs all year round, and in many places springs gushed out from the ground. The east, west, south and north of Beijing city are very clear. To the west are the Western Hills, Kunming Lake and Wanshou Hill, with mountains and water blending into one, with the city backed by mountains and backed by water. The topographic orientation of Kunming Lake and Wanshou Mountain forms a flow direction from northwest to southeast. Zhu Yuanzhang's descendants built the best feng shui place in the whole of Beijing - Mingxiao Mausoleum. The Jiangxi School used a compass to measure more information and make adjustments to achieve the goal of unity of man and nature, and unity and harmony between nature and man.
