You need to know these things about Feng Shui with compass

Introduction: To learn Feng Shui, you must first of course learn about the compass. The compass is the Feng Shui master’s sword and the weapon used to make moves. A compass is a needle-shaped compass. Originally, it only had the north and south poles, and later east and west were added to become the four major directions [east, west, south, north]. Then eight directions were added between [east, west, south and north], making a total of twelve directions. This was the earliest compass. The compass plays a big role in Feng Shui, but there are also many things to pay attention to. Let's take a look at them below.

To use the compass, you need to learn the twelve earthly branches.

The twelve directions on the compass are not written as east, south, west, north, but (starting from the north):

Zi, Chou, Yin, Mao, Chen, Si, Wu, Wei, Shen, You, Xu, Hai

From this moment on, everyone should forget about east, south, west and north and use the twelve Earthly Branches to represent the twelve directions of the Earth, which are called the Twelve Mountains in Feng Shui.

Everyone should memorize the formula [Zi Wu Mao You]! This is the four-character formula that must be understood in academic mathematics!

Zi = North; Wu = South; Mao = East; You = West.

You will also find that the order of east, south, west and north on the compass is south on the top and north on the bottom. This is the order for calculating directions in Feng Shui. Be careful not to get it wrong. Once you memorize the names of the four directions [Zi, Wu, Mao, You], you can clearly understand the direction shown on the compass.

Using the compass to understand the ten heavenly stems

The compass has developed to this day and has a total of twenty-four mountains, which means that the original twelve directions are further divided into twenty-four directions.

These twelve newly added directions have twelve different names.

There are ten heavenly stems in the Chinese calendar, namely:

Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren, Gui

The compass uses the eight characters [甲乙丙丁戊己庚辛壬癸] as codes for the eight directions. [戊己] represents the central earth of the Five Yellows, and these two characters are written in the center of the compass.

There are now a total of twenty-four directional codes, and four are still missing.

The Use of Compass, I Ching and Bagua

There are eight hexagrams in the Book of Changes, created by Fuxi, called the [Pre-Heavenly Eight Trigrams].

King Wen of Zhou changed the eight innate trigrams into sixty-four trigrams, which are called the [latent trigrams].

Feng Shui is a theory that integrates the wisdom of the [Hetu Luoshu] and the [Bagua] and applies it to directions.

The eight innate trigrams are: Kan, Kun, Zhen, Xun, Gan, Dui, Gen, and Li.

The person who created the compass added four hexagrams representing the northeast [Gen], southeast [Xun], southwest [Kun], and northwest [Qian] into the compass, forming the twenty-four mountains on the compass.

These twenty-four mountains are represented by eight hexagrams, namely:

[Kan Gua] represents the three mountains [Ren Zi Gui] (due north);

[Gen Gua] represents the three mountains [Chou Gen Yin] (northeast);

[Zhen Gua] represents the three mountains [Jia, Mao, and Yi] (due east);

[Xun Gua] represents the three mountains [Chen, Xun, and Si] (southeast);

[Li Gua] represents the three mountains [Bing, Wu, Ding] (due south);

[Kun Gua] represents the three mountains [Wei Kun Shen] (southwest);

[Dui Gua] represents the three mountains [Geng, You, Xin] (due west);

[Qian Gua] represents the three mountains [Shu Gan Hai] (northwest);

The eight directions on the compass are represented by the Eight Trigrams of the I Ching, and each direction contains three directions, for a total of twenty-four directions.
