Fish tank Feng Shui: Which fish are better for small fish tanks?
Introduction: People who raise fish at home do not necessarily use large fish boxes. Most people still use small fish tanks to raise a few fish. However, not many people know that there are some skills to raising fish in a small fish tank. Not all fish are suitable for raising in a small fish tank. The species and number must be controlled so that the fish can live freely in the small fish tank. In this issue of Fish Tank Feng Shui, Mr. Shui Mo will explain to you which fish are suitable for raising in a small fish tank.

1. Suitable types

A small fish tank can also hold fish that are too big, which will not only look unbalanced but will also cause the fish to die quickly due to lack of space and air. The types of fish suitable for small fish tanks include: goldfish, guppies, red swordfish, black Mary, pearl Mary, tiger skin, blue jasmine, prince charming, white jade phoenix, golden angel, Ali, firebird, electric Lili, zebrafish, glass fish, lemon light, traffic light, etc. These fish are all types of ornamental fish.

2. Number of fish

In a small fish tank, due to capacity constraints, it is not advisable to keep too many fish. The number of fish should be controlled within 5. Be sure to ensure the fish have good oxygen and sufficient space.
Mr. Shui Mo's comment: If raising fish is your hobby, then most people prefer to raise a few small fish in a small fish tank. At this time, we have to choose the number and type of fish, otherwise the small fish will find it difficult to survive for a long time.

3. Types of fish algae

Even if it is a small fish tank, some essential plants for fish life should be placed in it. Not only can it provide the fish with enough oxygen, but it can also provide space for the small fish to play.

1) Iron Crown

The iron crown is a fern of the Polypodiaceae family. It has green leaves, 20 to 40 cm long, sporangiums on the back of the leaves, a linear rhizome, and black or dark brown adventitious roots underneath. It has strong adaptability and is easy to manage. It is often used in aquatic plant landscaping and can also be grown in water in high humidity environments. Because of its tough, bitter leaves, it is a good addition to aquariums stocked with herbivorous fish.

2) Water Ficus

It is a type of aquatic plant in the Araceae family distributed in West Africa. Compared with other aquatic plants, it is very resilient and easy to plant. However, if it is planted indiscriminately, its roots and stems will gradually rot, it will become dwarfed, and eventually wither. It likes plenty of sunlight, slightly higher water hardness, lower nitrate content, sufficient base fertilizer in the bottom bed, and the suitable temperature for growth is 22-30℃.

3) Ceratophyllum

Also known as fine grass, fish grass, soft grass, pine algae, etc., it is a perennial herbaceous submerged aquatic plant of the genus Dermatophyte of the family Ceratophyllum. It has a wide range of requirements for water temperature, but is more sensitive to freezing. It will freeze to death in the ice within a few days. It likes nitrogen and grows better in water with high inorganic nitrogen content. It can grow normally in water with a pH value of 7.1-9.2, but the most suitable pH value is 7.6-8.8. It grows rapidly under a light intensity of 5-10%, but strong light will kill the duckweed.

4) Vallisneria

It is a perennial stemless submerged herb of the genus Vallisneria in the family Hydrocharitaceae, commonly known as noodle grass, dragon beard grass, and shoulder pole grass, etc. It has creeping stems, basal leaves, narrow and ribbon-like leaves, and the length of the leaves varies with the depth of the water level. The leaves are emerald green and translucent, standing gracefully in the water. It has strong adaptability to water quality, prefers weak alkaline water, does not like high temperature, is cold-resistant, and likes light. It often grows in streams, rivers, ponds, and lakes.

5) Fine-leaved Crown

A small swamp plant native to Brazil, with lanceolate leaves 10-15 cm long and 1 cm wide, almost without petioles, and a total height of about 20 cm. It has 2-3 spiral flowers about 1.5 cm in size and six pistils. The leaves are green and firm, with clear main veins and less obvious veins on both sides. Propagation by bud division will produce daughter plants on the reproductive stems of the mother plant. It likes strong light and the best temperature is 20-25℃.
Mr. Shui Mo's comment: Green plants are another condition for fish survival. Of course, in addition to the above-mentioned ones, there are others. In order to raise fish well in a small fish tank, these are indispensable.
