December at the end of the year is the month when many sacrifices are performed because it is the transition period between the old and the new year. Is Guan Gong the God of Wealth?

Guan Gong, also known as "Guan Sheng Emperor" or "Guan Di" for short, was originally one of the four guardian generals of Taoism. Later, Taoism mainly worshipped him as the God of Wealth. In addition to "curing diseases and eliminating disasters, exorcising evil spirits, punishing rebels, and inspecting the underworld", his functions also include "managing life and fortune, protecting merchants, and attracting wealth and treasure". Because of his loyalty, he is revered as the God of Wealth. There are three main reasons why Guan Gong is worshipped as the God of Wealth by businessmen: first, Guan Gong was very good at managing money and accounting during his lifetime. He established a note-taking method and invented a daily account book. This calculation method has four items: original, received, paid out, and stored. It is very detailed and clear. Later generations of businessmen recognized him as an accounting expert, so he was worshipped as the God of Business; second, when businessmen negotiate business, they value loyalty and credit the most. Guan Gong has both loyalty and trustworthiness, so he is respected; third, it is said that after Guan Gong's death, the real god often returned to help in battle and win. Businessmen hope that if their business suffers a setback one day, they can make a comeback like Guan Gong and strive for final success. The belief in Guan Gong was accepted by all walks of life in the Qing Dynasty, and worship of him was particularly popular. In modern times, the Gelaohui and Qinghong Gang in the underworld particularly worship Guandi. Brothers who swear brotherhood in the underworld must bow down in worship before Guandi, burn tablets and swear an oath to keep their faith and loyalty.
