Poems about March 3

1.
The evening seems to have ended, and it is even more regrettable this morning. The cool breeze makes me sad about spring, the cold pond makes the flowers wither in the evening.
I start to be reluctant to leave when drinking, and I miss the one who loved me. Who will walk along the winding river, looking for old traces out of longing?
——"A Letter to My Brothers on March 3rd, Remembering Cui Dushui" by Wei Yingwu of the Tang Dynasty
2.
The Yellow River flows westwards around the county city, so there should be no purification rituals on the Shangsi Festival.
To recall the beauty of spring water of Lujiang River, I dream of Wuzhou at night.
—— Zhang Zhihe of the Tang Dynasty, "Recalling the Purification Ceremony in Jiangnan on the Shangsi Day"
3.
Willows are swaying in the spring breeze on March 3rd, and the grass on the painted bridge is green and slender.
After a pair of swallows returned, the embroidered curtains of the Twelve Red Mansions were rolled up.
——Chen Yunping, Song Dynasty, "Spring Poems"

The story of March 3

1. The legend of the Zhuang ethnic group making five-color rice on March 3
Legend has it that there was a strong man named Wei Tegui who was extremely talented and served as a minister under the local emperor. One year there was a severe drought. In order to relieve the suffering of the people, he invited the local emperor to visit Zhuang township in person, and used a trick to make the emperor exempt from the imperial grain tax. The local emperor later realized that he had been deceived and regarded Tegui as a thorn in his side, and ordered his arrest. When the Zhuang people heard the news, they sent Tegui to the mountains to hide overnight. When the imperial soldiers could not catch him, they set fire to the mountain. That day happened to be the third day of the third lunar month. After the imperial soldiers left, the villagers found Tegui's body in the hole of a big maple tree and buried him next to the tree with tears in their eyes. Every March 3rd of the following year, the Zhuang people would dye glutinous rice into red, yellow, purple, black and other colors using maple leaf and other plant pigments. After steaming it, they would take it to the mountain to offer sacrifices to Tegui. 2. Miao Nationality’s March 3rd Festival
The Miao people in Hainan have a legend that Shennong, the ancestor of the Miao people, was an orphan. In order to save people from suffering, he tasted all kinds of wild fruits and herbs, and finally found a few grain seeds on the third day of the third lunar month. He taught the Miao, Li, Han and other ethnic groups how to plant them. After Shennong's death, the Miao people would kill chickens and cook rice to offer to him during the planting and harvest seasons in order to commemorate him. The third day of the third month in the lunar calendar is the day when Shennong Gong found the grain seeds. In addition, the Miao people in Hainan also believe that the ancestors of the Miao people were the five surnames of Deng, Pan, Li, Zhao, and Jiang. On the third day of the third lunar month every year, the Miao people steam five-color rice to pay tribute to their ancestors.
