Gathering around the fire on New Year's Eve On New Year's Eve, the whole family will gather around the table to eat the most sumptuous reunion dinner of the year. There are several versions of the legend of Handan Ye. Some people believe that Handan Ye is Zhao Gongming, the God of Wealth and War, while others believe that he is Xuantan Marshal. The developed folk custom of setting off firecrackers for Handan Ye has the effect of removing plague and means driving away poverty and loneliness. The more firecrackers are set off, the better the fortune will be in the coming year. 5. Beehive Fireworks in Yanshui, Tainan Among the traditional Lantern Festival celebrations in Taiwan, the most shocking effect is the beehive firework in Yanshui, Tainan. "Beehive Fireworks" is also known as "beacon firework".
