On October 9, 1949, the First National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference held its first meeting. On December 2, 1949, the resolution adopted at the fourth meeting of the Central People's Government Council pointed out: "The Central People's Government Council hereby declares: from 1950, October 1 of each year, the great day when the People's Republic of China was proclaimed as the National Day of the People's Republic of China." This is the origin of "October 1" as the "birthday" of the People's Republic of China, that is, the "National Day".
