According to historical records, military parades began in ancient my country during the Spring and Autumn Period. The original military parade was conducted in the form of hunting. The tradition of "military parade" first originated in the Han Dynasty. Every dynasty that lasted for a long time had similar regular or irregular military parades.
The earliest modern National Day military parade originated in France. The earliest National Day military parade in my country was the National Day military parade of the Republic of China. On October 10, 1911, the Republic of China was established, and October 10 became National Day. Celebrations are organized every year. In 1949, when the People's Republic of China was founded, the military parade was listed as an important part of the National Day Parade according to the decision of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
From the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China in 1949 to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 2009, a total of 14 National Day military parades were held. From 1949 to the 10th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1959, a total of 11 National Day military parades were held. Since then, there has been no National Day military parade for 24 consecutive years. It was not until 1984 that the central government decided to resume the military parade based on Deng’s proposal, and a large-scale National Day military parade was held on the 35th anniversary of the National Day in 1984. In 1999 and 2009, the Party Central Committee decided to hold a grand century military parade in Tiananmen Square to celebrate the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the founding of New China. Generally speaking, there is a small National Day parade every five years and a large one every ten years, so there is usually a military parade every fifth and tenth year.
