The third sign is heavy rain. The "Book of the Later Zhou Dynasty" says: "The soil is moist and the weather is hot. Five days later, heavy rains came at times." It also says: "If heavy rains do not come at times, the country will not be blessed." The Great Heat is the period with the most sunshine and the highest temperature in the basin in a year. It is also the period with the most abundant rainfall in the western part of the basin, the most common thunderstorms, and the most concentrated and frequent high temperature days. Therefore, the Great Heat season is also the season when thunderstorms are rampant. Great Heat is one of the 24 solar terms.
