What should we prepare for the Lantern Festival?Preparations for the Lantern Festival usually begin on the twelfth day of the first lunar month and last until the fifteenth day.1. There is a nursery rhyme that goes, "On the eleventh day, people are chattering; on the twelfth day, people are setting up the lantern shed; on the thirteenth day, people are lighting the lanterns; on the fourteenth day, the lanterns are at full brightness; on the fifteenth day, the moon is half full; on the sixteenth day, people are putting away the lanterns." 2. The thirteenth day of the first lunar month is the second day of preparations for the Lantern Festival and there are customs such as lion dancing, floats, parades and temple fairs. Legend has it that the thirteenth day of the first lunar month is the "birthday of the lamp head". People would light lamps under the kitchen stove on this day, which is called "lighting the stove lamp". In the old days, the lamps would be lit on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month and put out on the eighteenth day of the first lunar month. 3. The 14th day of the first lunar month is the third day of preparation for the Lantern Festival. There are customs such as drinking bright eye soup, trying out lanterns, eating fermented rice soup, and worshiping Linshui Goddess. In ancient times, both the Chinese people and the imperial court would build lantern sheds, hang lanterns and decorations, and do some preparatory activities for entertainment programs on this day, which was called "lantern testing" in order to welcome the annual Lantern Festival. 4.
