Qingming Festival is known as one of the four major traditional Chinese festivals for ancestor worship, along with Chushi Festival, Yu Festival and Jiusan Festival. Qingming Festival is the only holiday in Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong and other places that is determined according to the lunar calendar's solar terms. In Macau, there is also the winter solstice.

"Er Ya·Explanation of Birds": 鴽, 鴾母. Guo's note: It is a {酓鸟}, and people in Qingzhou call it 鴾母. Mr. Bao said: Rat is a yin species, while quail is a yang species. Qingming Festival, March Festival. According to "Guoyu", there are eight winds at the time. The calendar alone refers to the Qingming wind as the March festival, because this wind belongs to the Xun element. All things are in harmony with Xun. Tong Shihua. Tong is the name of a tree. There are three kinds: the one that is flashy but not fruitful is called white tung, which is what "Erya" calls the flourishing tung tree; the one with green bark and fruitful is called phoenix tree, which is also called green tung, which is what "Huainanzi" calls the broken-horned phoenix tree; the one that grows on hills and has large seeds with oil is called oil tung, which is what Mao Shi calls the phoenix tree that does not grow on hills.
