What are Yang Gong’s Thirteen Taboos?

"Yang Gong's taboo day" is also known as "Yang Gong's Thirteen Taboos". According to legend, the theory originated from Yang Jiupin, a geomancer in the Song Dynasty, who called the day Yang Gong's taboo.
Yang Yunsong (834-906), whose name was Yi, whose courtesy name was Yunsong and whose pseudonym was Jiupin, was a native of Douzhou. One of the four great geomancers in China. During the reign of Emperor Xizong of the Tang Dynasty (874-888), he was in charge of the geography of Lingtai and rose to the rank of Jinzi Guanglu Dafu. In the sixth year of Qianfu (874), Wang Xianzhi proposed Zhao Yi, and Huang Chao responded. In 880, Huang Chao entered Chang'an (another legend has it that he was Liao Yu, the ancestor of Zeng Wentan, who left the palace during the An-Shi Rebellion and went to Ganzhou, Jiangxi to teach his disciples). Yang Jiupin stole the "Secret Art of the Jade Box in the Forbidden City", which is Guo Pu's "Book of Burial", and returned to Ganzhou, where he taught his disciples in present-day Yangxianling. Because Yang Yunsong used the art of geomancy to provide blessings for countless poor people throughout his life, he was deeply loved by the people and people respectfully called him Yang Jiupin.
There are many legends about Yang Gong's life. He used the geomancy skills he learned to save kind and virtuous people from poverty. During this period, bad people and evil people threatened Yang Gong to choose a piece of land, but Yang Gong refused. During this period, politicians and evil people could not get the lucky land he chose, and they tried to harm Yang Gong. Yang Gong was murdered thirteen times in his life. Because Yang Gong saved countless people and had great blessings and virtues, he was able to escape danger every time. Therefore, Yang Gong had thirteen taboos. (Ji means the taboo of death. Haven’t you seen that when a person’s ancestors die, they put a white note with the words “Ji Zhong” on the door?)
Yang Gong had thirteen taboos in his life: evil people could not find a good place, and would try to kill him. However, good people are blessed by heaven and their virtues will prosper, so every time there was only a narrow escape but no one killed him. Yang Gong's three thousand disciples set the days of those thirteen times they suffered as Yang Gong's taboos. His disciples would not hold funerals or perform other ceremonies for anyone during these thirteen days, and would not observe any memorial ceremony for their teacher at home.
