Some Feng Shui terms you should know before getting started
Feng Shui has always been something that surrounds everyone. After understanding the importance of Feng Shui, some people want to learn something about Feng Shui, but they don’t know where to start. Now the editor has collected professional Feng Shui terminology for everyone. You can first understand it and then start to learn. The Nine Palace Flying Stars is a method of fortune-telling by using the nine-star technique to determine the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the spatial location of a house or tomb. The names of the nine stars in Feng Shui are quite inconsistent in the books. And their properties are no different from the nine purple and white stars of astrologers (one white Mercury, two black Saturn, three green Jupiter, four green Jupiter, five yellow Saturn, six white Venus, seven red Venus, eight white Saturn and nine purple Mars).

The so-called "Palace" refers to the Nine Palaces array. The practitioners give them the names of Qian Palace, Kan Palace, Gen Palace, Zhen Palace, Xun Palace, Li Palace, Kun Palace, Dui Palace and Center Palace. The fortune star enters the Center Palace, and the rest of the Nine Palaces are arranged in the order of Qian six, Dui seven, Gen eight, Li nine, Kan one, Kun two, Zhen three, Xun four and Zhong five. The positions of the palaces change with the year, month, day and hour. It is auspicious when it is purple or white, and it is inauspicious when it is blue, green, yellow or black. The relationship between direction and fortune is determined by the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the stars. Not only do the stars themselves have auspicious and inauspicious values, but as the compass rotates, there is also a distinction between auspicious and inauspicious values when they are in power or out of power. The sorcerers believe that each of the nine stars has its own prosperity, birth, decline and death. Those that are in the current period are prosperous, those that are coming will live, those that have passed will decline, and those that have been gone for too long will die. The birth, prosperity, decline and death of the nine stars are first used to predict the good or bad luck of each direction of the nine cycles, and secondly to determine the relationship between the mountain star and the direction star flying into the same palace. Some of these relationships are discussed based on the hexagrams, some based on the mutual generation and restraint of the five elements, and some based on the combination of the innate numbers of the River Chart and the acquired numbers of the Luoshu. Good or bad luck is all determined by whether the stars are in power or out of power. All the stars that can be used in a period of fortune are in power, otherwise they are out of power. It is auspicious when they are in power, and it is disastrous when they are out of power.

The practitioners use the rules of the Nine Stars to determine the good and bad luck of each terrain direction in the Nine Cycles, and provide various methods to avoid evil and seek good luck for the construction of houses and tombs. For example, the doors, roads and drains of tomb passages of Yang houses should be opened in the direction where the prosperous star flies to. For example, for a house or tomb facing Zishan Wu, its doors, roads or drains should be located in the Li direction where the luck star flies to in the first cycle, in the Gen direction where the Erhei star flies to in the second cycle, and in the Dui direction where the Sanbi star flies to in the third cycle.

Each direction in the Nine Cycles has its own star system, with different fortunes. The same direction may be auspicious in one cycle, but inauspicious in another cycle due to the arrival of a deadly star. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : :
Finding dragons and finding holes: a Feng Shui term. It is said that learning this can be used to survey the specific location and depth of ancient tombs. "Dragon" refers to the underground Feng Shui veins starting from Kunlun. "Hole" refers to the tomb. Building a tomb on the dragon head is a Feng Shui treasure cave. "Finding dragons and finding holes" means finding the tombs of ancient emperors and generals according to the Feng Shui trend. Because in ancient times, the higher the status of people, the more attention they paid to the Feng Shui of the tomb. It is said that a good location of the tomb can bless the descendants with prosperity and wealth, on the contrary, if it is built on a dangerous place, it may ruin the family and cause death.
Compass: The compass is an operating tool of the Qigong school. It is mainly composed of a magnetic needle located in the center of the disk and a series of concentric circles. Each circle represents the ancient Chinese people's understanding of a certain level of information in the universe's system.
The ancient Chinese believed that human aura is controlled by the aura of the universe. Harmony between man and the universe is auspicious, while disharmony between man and the universe is ominous. So, based on their experience, they put all the information at all levels of the universe on the compass, such as the stars in the sky, all things on the earth represented by the five elements, the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, etc. Feng shui masters use the rotation of magnetic needles to find the direction or time that is most suitable for a specific person or thing.
The basic theory of Tai Chi giving birth to Bagua: Wuji gives birth to Tai Chi, Tai Chi gives birth to Liang Yi, Liang Yi gives birth to Si Xiang, Si Xiang gives birth to Bagua, Bagua gives birth to sixty-four hexagrams. Five Elements: refers to the five modes of movement of matter: gold, wood, water, fire and earth. Ancient Chinese thinkers used the theory of the five elements to explain the formation of all things in the world and their interrelationships.
The Twenty-Eight Constellations, also known as the Twenty-Eight Houses or the Twenty-Eight Stars, divide the stars in the southern sky into twenty-eight groups, and the circle of constellations distributed along the ecliptic or celestial equator (the Earth's equator extending to the sky) is divided into four groups, also known as the Four Symbols, Four Beasts, Four Dimensions, and Four Directional Gods. Each group has seven constellations. Their origins are still not fully clear.
Originally, the ancients chose twenty-eight constellations to compare the movements of the sun, moon, gold, wood, water, fire, and earth as marks for observation. The meaning of "Su" is similar to "Gong" in the zodiac, which means the constellation table. Indicates the positions of the sun, moon and five planets. By the Tang Dynasty, the Twenty-Eight Mansions became the main body of the Twenty-Eight Celestial Regions, which were still named after the Twenty-Eight Mansions. Unlike the Three Enclosures, as celestial regions, the Twenty-Eight Mansions were mainly used to divide the affiliations of star officials.
The twenty-eight constellations start from Jiao and are arranged from west to east, in the same direction as the apparent motion of the sun and moon:
The east is called the Azure Dragon: Jiao, Wood, Jiao, Kang, Gold, Dragon, Di, Earth, He, Fang, Sun, Rabbit, Heart, Moon, Fox, Tail, Fire, Tiger, Ji, Water, Leopard;
The south is called Zhuque: Jing, Mu, An, Gui, Jin, Yang, Liu, Tu, Zhang, Xing, Ri, Ma, Zhang, Yue, Lu, Yi, Huo, Snake, Zhen, Shui, and Yu;
The West is called White Tiger: Kui, Wood, Wolf, Lou, Gold, Dog, Wei, Earth, Pheasant, Pleiades, Sun, Chicken, Bi, Moon, Wu, Zi, Fire, Monkey, Shen, Water, Ape;
The north is called Xuanwu: Doumu, Xieniu, Taurus, Nutu, Fu, Xuri, Shu, Weiyue, Yanshi, Huozhu, Bi, Shuixian.
