At this time, we need to understand the meaning of some Feng Shui terms. Read the following Feng Shui terminology article so that everyone can understand the general idea when listening to the Feng Shui master's explanation.

Six Things About Yangzhai

Feng shui terminology. Includes "six internal matters" and "six external matters". The "six internal matters" are doors, stoves, wells, toilets, pestles and mills (including warehouses), and animal pens; the "six external matters" are roads, ponds, bridges, temples, and pagodas.

The practitioners believe that the orientation and location of six internal and external factors are closely related to the fortune and misfortune of the population, among which the position of the door is the most important. The Qing Dynasty's "Ten Books on Yang Zhai", "Yang Zhai Jingzhuan", "Yang Zhai Huixin Ji" and "Yang Zhai Jue" believe that the door is the mouth of the house for intake of air. If the door faces the right direction, the house will be lucky and avoid disaster. The so-called "geographical method relies entirely on the door's wind and air, connecting with the weather from above and the ground from below, and introducing it layer by layer to determine good and bad luck" (Volume 2 of "Yang Zhai Jingzhuan"). Its importance is almost equal to the site of the house, and it must be opened in the auspicious direction of the house. There are many types of doors, such as main door, middle door, main door, room door, and side door.

door

The main door is the outer door of the house. It is the place where vitality of the earth comes in and out. Its auspiciousness or inauspiciousness affects the destiny of the population and is the most important. The main door is the outer door of each floor of the house. Its auspiciousness or inauspiciousness affects the destiny of the people living on the same floor. Generally, if the house is small, the main door is the focus. If the house is large with many rooms, the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the main door will be relatively far-reaching, so the main door must be chosen carefully. The room door is the main door of each room. It has the most direct relationship with its occupants, and must also be opened in an auspicious direction. As for the middle door, it is located inside the main door and outside the hall. It is only important when there is no main door and it is used as the main door. The side doors are small doors on the left and right for the entry and exit of firewood and water. Although they are not very important, they should be opened in auspicious directions to help bring good luck to the house. The auspicious direction of the door is usually determined by the flying arrangement of the eight annual stars and the coordination of yin and yang and the five elements.

kitchen

The stove's status among the six internal affairs is second only to the door of the house. The sorcerer believes that an improper stove position will cause disaster to the housewife, and eventually affect the elderly and the young. In addition to determining the direction of the stove based on the flying stars, yin and yang, and the five elements, the choice of the stove direction can also be determined by the method of Luantou, but it generally only involves the location and shape of the stove in the house. For example, it is said that it is not suitable to install a stove in front of the house, otherwise the owner of the house will suffer from illness and his descendants will be unvirtuous; the stove mouth should not face the house door directly, otherwise wealth will be consumed; the stove mouth should not be close to a pond or a well, otherwise the owner will be lonely and without descendants, and so on.

well

As for wells, they should be dug in the Shengqi and Yannian directions of the house, or in the directions where Mercury and Jupiter among the Nine Purple and White Stars fly over (determined by the star of the mountain where the house sits and the flying arrangement of the center palace). Otherwise, drinking from them will cause stubborn diseases and premature death. It is also said that it should be opened in the Dui direction, otherwise the woman in the family will be promiscuous; it should not be opened in front of the hall, especially not facing the door, otherwise it will cause heart pain and eye disease; the well and the stove cannot be connected, nor can they face each other from north to south, otherwise the family will have bad luck in their journey.

restroom

The toilet should be located in the four evil directions of the owner's natal chart to suppress the evil. Its location should be hidden and should not be opposite to the stove door.

Warehouses and corrals

The pestle and mill and the warehouse should be placed in the four auspicious directions of the owner's natal chart. They should not be placed on the left, right or in front of the bedroom. Otherwise, the owner of the house will suffer from illness or the wife will become a widow.

The orientation of the animal pen depends on the five elements of the livestock. For example, cattle belong to Kun Earth, so they should avoid the direction where Jupiter flies to; pigs and ducks belong to Kan Water, so they should avoid the direction where Saturn flies to, otherwise it will be bad for the livestock. In addition, the animal pen should not be set up in front of the door, nor should it be set up on the left or right side of the gate, otherwise it will cause loss of life and property.

The six external matters are all discussed based on external appearance, with emphasis on symbolic meaning, and their selection and divination mostly adopt the method of Luan Tou.

the way

For example, if the road in front of the door becomes wider and wider as it gets farther and wider, the people will be healthy, and if it becomes narrower and farther away as it gets narrower, the people will be depressed; the road is in the shape of a zigzag. If it's in the shape of an "eight", it means profit in the property and houses. If it's in the shape of an "eight", it means the family will encounter rebellion. If it's in the shape of a "well", it means suicide. If it's in the shape of a "river", it means theft. If it's in the shape of a "fire", it means disaster. If it's in the shape of a "ding", the family will decline. If it's in the shape of a "one", it means poverty and lack of food and clothing.

pond

A pond in front of the house will attract wealth, while a pond behind the house will harm the wife and children. The shape should be crescent or curved, not square, otherwise it will be like "looking in the mirror in a blood basin", which will bring disaster of extinction. It is also said that double ponds should not be used because they resemble the Chinese character "crying", which is bad luck.

Bridge Temple Pagoda

Other things such as bridges, temples, pagodas, etc. should not be opposite to the house door, otherwise it will bring disasters and bad luck. The above mentioned do's and don'ts are only general ideas. It is very complicated and tedious to record them in books, and each method has its own differences, so it is difficult to record them all.

House interior

Feng shui terminology. It refers to the internal layout of a house, that is, the unified overall image formed by the houses, courtyards, walls, doors, etc. The "Ten Books on Yang House" by the Qing Dynasty believed that the shape of a house is closely related to a person's destiny. The structure should be neat and tidy, and it should not be stretched to the east and west, or too large in the south and too small in the north. The house should be wide and low; the number of rooms should be odd and single, and should be symmetrical with each other; the house should be clustered, the width of the courtyard should be proportional to the main house, the size of the main gate should be appropriate to the overall size of the house, and the walls and fences should be circular and complete.

According to these standards, house types can be divided into different categories, each with its own auspicious attributes. A house with a dignified shape, a majestic atmosphere, neat guards and an inviolable appearance is a noble house; a house with tight walls, bright lights on all sides, a spacious courtyard and a well-groomed environment is a wealthy house. A small and tall house, isolated and helpless, is a poor house; a house that leans to the left and right, with broken beams and prone to wind is a sick house; a house that is in disarray, with broken walls on all sides and exposed rafters is a poor house; a house with deep front and back, no water gathering on all sides and in a state of disarray is a poor house.

As for the homeowner himself, there are several other categories: for example, a wealthy house must have two wings, a bungalow must have three rooms, a shallow front hall means money and food will flow in every day, and a deep back hall means that children and grandchildren will enjoy wealth for generations. There are many types of poor houses: the one with many doors and windows on all sides is a star-exposed house, which means loss of wealth; the one with too long front and back wings is a sedan chair house, which means a significant loss of wealth. In addition, if there is a house with uneven corners and exposed elbows, the eldest son will die young; if there is a house with few children but a larger front room and a smaller back room, the owner's family will decrease; if there are two doors facing each other and scolding each other, there will be family discord. There are various taboos in the shape of the house. For example, if the front and back rooms are connected by a side room on only one side, it is called the "death" evil. If there is a straight house behind the main house, it is called the "direct shooting" evil. If there are many houses on the four sides but no wall or door for entering and exiting the courtyard in the middle, it is called the "carrying corpse" evil. There are many names, too.

In addition, the Qi-Li school of geomancers also predict the auspiciousness or inauspiciousness of the interior of a house based on the house's orientation, the attributes of the Eight Trigrams, and the interaction of the Five Elements between them. According to the Five Elements, there are five types of house shapes: a low and flat house, or one with the lower hall level with the eaves of the two wings, is a water shape; a house that is high in the middle and low at both ends, or one with the main room being a building and the two wings being bungalows, is a fire shape; a house with the upper and lower main rooms shaped like a word "mouth", or two wings in front and back, is a gold shape; a house with a push-up light on the top and a concealed heart below, or a house surrounded by four rooms, is an earth shape.

If the location of the house (the attributes of the Eight Trigrams are determined by the location) and the five elements of the house shape are in harmony, it will be auspicious; if they are in conflict, it will be inauspicious. The astrologer uses the shape of the house to control people, and the location of the mountain to control wealth. If the shape of the house is damaged, the population will decline, while if it is supported, the population will prosper. If the location of the mountain is damaged, the wealth will fail, while if it is supported, the wealth will prosper. If the house of Kun belongs to earth, and you build a water-shaped house, the earth of the mountain will dig out the water of the house, which will lead to a decline in the population. Therefore, "water meets the earth palace and causes loss of population, and money will not be a glory", so you will have money but your descendants will not be prosperous. It is better to choose a fire-shaped house or a gold-shaped house. The fire in the shape gives birth to the earth in the mountain, which brings wealth, while the earth in the mountain gives birth to the gold in the house, which brings abundant people.
