Introduction: Bai Juyi is a great realist poet in the Tang Dynasty and one of the three great poets of the Tang Dynasty. He is known as the "Poetry Demon" and the "Poetry King". Well, as a great poet, he has an unknown side, which is related to Feng Shui. This issue’s Feng Shui story will tell the story about Bai Juyi! Folk wisdom is compiled into stories, including many Feng Shui stories. Let’s take a look at them. Bai Juyi once wrote a poem called "Haunted House", which reveals the appearance of a haunted house: There are many large mansions in Chang'an, lined up on the east and west sides of the streets. Often, the rooms and corridors inside the red gate are relatively empty. Owls cry in the pine and laurel trees, and foxes hide in the orchid and chrysanthemum The ground is covered with moss and yellow leaves, and there are many whirlwinds at dusk. The previous lord was a general, but he committed a crime and fled to Bayong. The later lord was a minister and died in his sleep due to illness. If four or five masters are affected in succession, disasters will follow one after another. Things have not been going well for the owner for the past ten years. Wind and rain damaged the eaves, and snakes and rats crawled through the walls. People were suspicious and dared not buy it, and the construction work was ruined day by day. Alas, the hearts of ordinary people are so ignorant and foolish. But when one fears that disaster is about to come, one does not consider where the disaster comes from. I write this poem now in the hope of enlightening the hearts of those who are confused. All high-ranking officials have high annual salaries. It is difficult to maintain power for long, and it is easy to become poor if you are in a high position. The arrogant are the ones who have the most things, and the old are the ones who have the most things. These four are like bandits and robbers, attacking each other day and night. Even if one lives in a good place, who can protect himself? Use the small to illustrate the big, and use the family to illustrate the country. Why did the great poet Bai Juyi choose to be buried in a Feng Shui dead place after his death? We can learn something from the Feng Shui stories told in his poems about haunted houses. On the east side of the northern end of the beautiful Yique Longmen Grottoes Scenic Area, there is a towering Pipa Peak, with its back against the main mountain range of Dongshan Mountain, a steep hillside in front of it, and the broad and surging Yi River below the slope. Although this place has pleasant scenery, secluded valleys and beautiful peaks, it is called a dead end by Feng Shui practitioners. Bai Juyi was a great poet in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. He was well-versed in classics and had a deep understanding of ancient and modern times. In particular, he had studied Feng Shui. But why did he choose to be buried in a desolate place, Mangshan, which is the best Feng Shui site in the world? Bai Juyi experienced ups and downs in officialdom throughout his life and witnessed the dangers of the world. He carefully observed the lives of the masses and felt deep sympathy for the common people. For example, it is prominently shown in poems such as Three Officials, Three Farewells, The Charcoal Seller, and The Song of the Pipa. He was talented and intelligent throughout his life. At the age of sixteen, he wrote the famous "Fude Guyuancao Songbie": The grass on the plain is withered and flourishing every year. Wildfires cannot be extinguished; they will spring up again with the spring breeze. The distant fragrance permeates the old road, and the clear green connects to the deserted city. I send the prince away again, with the grass filled with sadness of parting. Bai Guyi's career became dull in his later years and only after he retired from officialdom did he have time to indulge in the beauty of nature. However, after the poet retired, he formed a group of nine elders at Xiangshan Mountain and repaired the Bajietan Beach, which were purely folk actions, but some people also criticized them. Watching from the sidelines with a cold eye, he felt even more disgusted, disappointed, and completely hopeless about the officialdom. He wanted to show that he had no intention of pursuing a career in politics and that he also didn't want his descendants to follow in his footsteps and waste their lives in officialdom. He believes that this is harmful to one's body and mind and has no benefits. So the poet instructed his descendants to pass on the tradition and not to serve as officials anymore. Therefore, he gave up the Feng Shui treasure land of Beimang, which was coveted by everyone for burial, and chose the top of Pipa Peak, which was facing a dead end, as his burial site in order to cut off his official aura. Although this burial in the wilderness was just an act to show the poet's determination, his righteous construction of the Eight-Section Beach has been praised by people all over the world for generations. In order to repair the Bajietan, the poet did not have enough funds, so he not only took out his own savings, but also reluctantly sold his beloved fur coat and the silver saddle and jade belt that the Yuan family gave him when he wrote the epitaph for his friend Yuan Zhen. The Bajie Beach was repaired, the strange rocks were chiseled lower, and the rocky beach was dug out, so that boats and rafts could pass through unimpeded. The poet was filled with joy and high spirits, "There is something joyful in my heart, that is, the opening of the Eight-Section Rapids of Longmen (Joyful Gāthā)", and he wrote down "Two Poems on the Opening of the Eight-Section Rapids of Longmen", one of which goes: The seventy-three-year-old man works day and night, and vows to open a dangerous road to make it a passage. A boat passing here at night will not capsize, and the morning path will be free from hardship from now on. The ten-mile rapids turn into the Milky Way, and the eight cold prisons turn into spring. Although my body is gone, my heart lives on, secretly showing mercy to future generations. The dangerous road in Yiqu became a smooth one, and the poor boatmen have never forgotten the poet's kindness from generation to generation. Before the current Longmen Bridge was built, when people with the surname Bai from the west bank of the river crossed the river to Pipa Peak to visit the poet's grave, as long as they said they were the poet's descendants, the boatman would immediately greet them with a smile and waive the boat fare. From the great poet's approach, can we modern people understand that he was pursuing a harmonious concept of human life? It seems that if we really want to trace this harmony, it does have a deep source, and it also has an indissoluble bond with Shihao.
