The Dragon Boat Festival is a very complicated festival, and different regions have different interpretations. Are people born on the Dragon Boat Festival bad? There are four seasons in a year, summer is the second season, and May is exactly in the middle of summer, so it is called 'midsummer' and 'midsummer'. Welcome to Shuimo.com's special topic on the fifth month of the lunar calendar to view related articles. The fifth month of the lunar calendar was called the "evil month" and the "poisonous month" in ancient times, and the fifth day of the fifth lunar month was the "evil day" and the "poisonous day". In many places, there is a custom of "not giving birth to children in May", and it is believed that being born on the Dragon Boat Festival is a bad omen. The ancients believed that babies born during the Dragon Boat Festival, whether male or female, could not be raised to adulthood. If raised, a male baby would harm his father and a female baby would harm her mother. Wang Chong of the Eastern Han Dynasty explained the custom of "not raising a child born on May 5th" in "Lun Heng": "The first month of the year begins, and the sun is at its peak in May. If a child is born in this month, his sperm will be hot and intense, which will overpower his parents. The parents will not be able to bear it and will suffer from it." It is generally believed that this custom has been popular since the Warring States Period. This custom is recorded in many books such as Lun Heng by Wang Chong of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Fengsu Tong by Ying Shao, and Book of the Later Han Dynasty. However, judging from the lunar month and day, the fate of people born on the Dragon Boat Festival is not bad, and there are many great people born on the Dragon Boat Festival in history, so these bad statements are not absolute. 1. Lord Muchang In the late Warring States Period (475 BC - 221 BC), the young wife of Qi nobleman Tian Ying gave birth to a son on the fifth day of the fifth month. Tian Ying repeatedly told her to abandon the boy, but the young lady was reluctant to do so. She raised the boy secretly for several years before taking Tian Wen to meet his father. Tian Ying seemed very unhappy and was very cold to him. Tian Wen, who had grown up, asked his father why he didn't like him. Tian Ying told his son that he was a "May child" and would be harmful to his father when he grew up to be as tall as a door frame. Tian Wen replied: "Houses are built by people. If that's the case, why don't you leave the door frame higher?" His father was speechless. When Tian Wen grew up, he was called Lord Mengchang. He was respectful to wise and humble, and won over many talented people. He was successively appointed as prime minister by the monarchs of Qin, Qi and Wei. 2. Wang Zhen'e On the fifth day of the fifth month in the ninth year of the Jianyuan reign of the Former Qin Dynasty (373 AD), the wife of Wang Xiu, the son of Wang Meng, the lucky prime minister of the Former Qin Dynasty, gave birth to a baby boy. Wang Xiu believed that a child born on this day would be disadvantageous to him when he grew up, so he planned to give him away. Wang Meng looked at his grandson carefully and said, "Lord Mengchang was also born on the fifth day of the fifth month, but he became the prime minister of Qi. This child has an extraordinary face and may have a bright future." So he specially named his grandson "Wang Zhen'e". When Wang Zhen'e grew up, he liked to read military books and discuss military and national affairs. Although he was not good at martial arts such as riding and archery, he was strategic and decisive in his actions. In 409 AD, when the Eastern Jin general Liu Yu attacked Guanggu City (now Qingzhou), someone recommended him to Liu Yu. After a conversation, Liu Yu promoted him to be his general. Wang Zhen'e assisted Liu Yu in seizing Jingzhou, taking Chang'an, suppressing the rebellion, and destroying the Later Qin Dynasty, becoming a famous general. 3. Tuoba Yuanhao On the fifth day of the fifth month of the first year of the Jingde reign of Emperor Zhenzong of the Northern Song Dynasty (1004 AD), Tuoba Yuanhao was born in Lingzhou (now Lingwu, Ningxia). When he was young, Yuanhao liked to wear white long-sleeved clothes, a black hat, and a bow and arrow. He often traveled with a hundred cavalrymen, riding a steed, with two flag bearers leading the way in front and behind, and followed by a three-hatted infantryman of the Guwei Guard, who was surrounded on the left and right, and was very majestic. He liked reading poetry and books since he was a child, and was even more devoted to the study of military tactics, especially political and legal books on governing the country and maintaining peace. He was good at thinking and planning, and had unique insights into things. Cao Wei, a general of the Song Dynasty, wanted to see his style, but he could not achieve his goal. Later, he sent someone to secretly draw his image. After seeing his appearance, Cao Wei exclaimed: "How brave!" Yuanhao was later Emperor Jingzong of Xia, the founding emperor of Western Xia, who laid the foundation for the pattern of the three-way division of the world among Song, Liao, and Xia. 4. Song Huizong Song Huizong Zhao Ji (June 7, 1082 - June 4, 1135), the eighth emperor of the Song Dynasty, was also known as Xuanhe Master. Song Huizong was born on the fifth day of the fifth month, so Song Shenzong sent him to be fostered outside the palace. After Song Huizong grew up and ascended the throne, he disliked his birthday being unlucky, so he changed it to the tenth day of the tenth month, named "Tianning Festival", and required officials and people across the country to hold celebrations on this day.
